Oh Lord, The Cords

Terry and I are headed to Tucson tomorrow for a week of bicycling through the Sonora Desert, the key word in that sentence is "Desert". I can't wait to get out of this refrigerated state to the "Desert".... mmmmmmm
Last night I found myself packing not only the usual curling iron and ceramic straightener (depending on my mood), but laptop with charger, kindle with charger, camera with charger and i-touch with charger. I have enough cord to strangle the whole row in front of me if I was so inclined. If I were not taking those thing on board with me, I could have surely checked a bag full of cords. How did we ever live without our gadgets? Thank heaven I don't have a cell phone... stay tuned for the Tucson tour.

Latest Guilty Pleasure

For those of you that enjoy music and dancing, "Glee" is the show for you. After winning a number of awards on the Golden Globes, I added the first season to my Netflix Queue. I could not stop watching it, and am now hooked. The musical and dance numbers are great, but that is just the start. The adjective riddled, sarcastic wit of the coach of the "Cheerios" will have you hitting the replay button so you can make sure you heard her correctly. The entire cast of characters is just that, a cast of characters. The mix of old tunes with the new is superb. If you haven't seen it yet, put it in your queue. I promise the only disappointment will be having to wait until April for the next season to start.

What A Week!!

I don't know who coined the phrase, "One can never have too many dogs", but they either lived on a huge fenced in property or drank themselves to sleep every night. Last week I had 4 days with 9 dogs, and the rest of the week with 7.
I make it a point never to have more than 5 at any one time, and that includes Harper. Because of the unprecedented snow storm, 4 of my clients plans were delayed a week, that pushed them into the next week in which I already had 3 pups booked.
Now Terry is not a huge fan of dogs. He loves Harper, but the constant flow of dogs in and out has taken some getting used to. After last week he deserves to be canonized.... and we're still dating. Thanks for everything love bug.

Count My Blessings

If you look deep enough you can find beauty in everything.
I know I seem to be whining about all this snow, but the truth is it has not been that bad for me.
Sure my shop has been closed for a week, but it's February, not the week before Christmas. I have had electricity throughout, my roof is pitched, so I don't have to worry about it collapsing.
No trees have fallen on my home and I have only slipped once.
There have been so many accidents due to this storm. Luckily, I don't have to be out in this, unlike the BGE employees, the backhoe and snow removal guys, doctors, nurses, emt's, and the rest of the people that we depend on in cases like this. So thank you, to all of you, for taking one on the jaw for us.
Here is just a small sample of some of the beauty I found.

26 More Inches

Yesterday was a complete white out, The only reason I went out at all was for the pups. That's right, plural. During these incredible snowstorms I have been watching 2 other dogs. Their parents are in Sunny Africa for 2 months. So while I am taking the dogs out in Arctic conditions, their parents are sending me African emails about wine tastings and safaris.
Our last 2 storms have dropped 44 inches on us. We have had a total of 77 inches this winter breaking all records. I wonder since it's an Olympic Year if we will all get gold medals for shoveling. Here are some fun shots of me and the kids out in this winter wonderland.

Make It Stop

Okay, so I've been snowed in since Friday, Saturday I got out just to shovel. Luckily my next door neighbor has a snow blower. For those of you who have never used a snow blower, it is fun for about the first 45 seconds. If you have ever heard Kevin talk about his jack hammer experience, picture that. First of all snow blowers do not go through wet snow like a knife through butter. It's a back and forth motion, to get through inch by inch. Now I am starting this with sore arms from hand shoveling the day before, so an hour later I have blisters on my hands and can't quite stop the shaking within my entire body. Luckily for me, Terry showed up with his ergonomically correct shovel, and plowed out the front door.

Let the Fun Begin.

I for one, have enough things in my house to keep me busy until March. Clean closets, drawers, the house, you know all the fun stuff we all love to do. I have made my home very comfortable and I believe I would have no problem hibernating until May.

This is the product of the quilting class Kris and I took. I used the same colors as the big quilt I made last year. These will be the colors I use in my spare bedroom, the theme of course is the beach. I was sewing for a good deal of the day, but alas there is snow to be removed.

SNOWPOCALYPSE

Aahhh Winter!! Even for someone like me the first snow fall of the winter season is beautiful. The world is covered in white, and you can't help but think how pure it looks. It usually only takes a dusting for my appreciation to kick in. Well as most of my readers know, we are now on our 3rd dumping, with a light dusting in between. The light dusting may have been light for somewhere like Minnesaota, but I do not consider 6 inches a dusting.
I have included this photo of Harper so you can see how high the snow is against my front door.
That is what I woke up to Saturday morning. The storm door opens out, so there would be no using that door for a while.
